VanCott Shareholder Michael O’Brien appointed to Utah Securities Commission

Michael O'Brien has been appointed by Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr. as one of five members of the newly-established Utah Securities Commission.  The Utah Securities Commission replaces the Securities Advisory Board, working closely with the Utah Division of Securities to set policy, adopt administrative rules and adjudicate enforcement actions brought by the Division.

Mr. O'Brien is a VanCott Shareholder, a member of the firm's Litigation and Business Groups and Co-Chair of the Securities Practice Group.   Mr. O'Brien's practice includes an emphasis in Securities and Banking Law.  In February 2009, Aspatore Books published his article on the securitization markets, entitled "The Exaggerated Claims of the Death of Securitization".
